The sky has not been cooperating much over the last couple weeks. Either fully clouded out, or high thin clouds, have kept the cover on the scope. Took the opportunity to update the astronomy software I use for observing on my Libre Compute SBC and my Raspberry Pi… I also upgrade SharpCap and KStars on my Desktop which I use for EAA Sessions.
I used my RaspAstro scripts to build the updated INDI from source and to also build the new KStars for source. This worked without issue on both the Libre SBC running 64-bit Armbian and the Raspberry Pi 4 running 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS. The scripts build from the latest sources for INDI and KStars. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you. Git it from here: https://github.com/herseyc/raspastro
INDI Server 2.0.2 was released a couple weeks ago with several bug fixes. The latest release notes for INDI Server can be found here: https://github.com/indilib/indi/releases
A new version of KStars, version 3.6.5, was released on June 1, 2023 with some bug fixes and a few new features. The new Sky Map Rotation feature is handy. There are also a few improvements to the Ekos Focus Module. Can’t wait to try them out. The release notes for KStars 3.6.5 can be found here: https://knro.blogspot.com/2023/06/kstars-v365-is-released.html
SharpCap regularly releases updates and the newest one, version 4.0.9562.0, was released on June 5, 2023. The release notes and download link can be found here: https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/downloads
SharpCap also has a beta available for 4.1, information on the beta and new features can be found here: https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/sharpcap-downloads/sharpcap-4-1-beta I have not tinkered with this yet but may load it up on the spare laptop to check out what’s what.
While I was updating software I also updated to the latest indi-allsky release and updated INDI to 2.0.2 on the All Sky Camera. Instructions for updating indi-allsky can be found here: https://github.com/aaronwmorris/indi-allsky/wiki/Updating-indi-allsky
The forecast is not looking great for clear nights over the next week or so… hopefully the sky will clear soon.
Hi,
I would like to create EAA on my raspberry pi 4 (as INDI server) too and i’m wondering which OS do you use on your rpi ? Raspbian ? Ubuntu ? Ubuntu mate ? Other ?
Thank you 🙂
I use the latest 64-bit Raspbian on the Raspberry Pi and build INDI Server from source. Happy to help you work through whatever OS you pick. Just post here or join the Discord channel here: https://discord.gg/3Q7ehU5Z4v
